Schloss Vollrads above Oestrich-Winkel is one of the oldest wine estates in the world: in 1211, in the first documented record, members of the Greiffenclau family sold wine to the St. Viktor collegiate foundation in Mainz. The quality designation ‘Cabinet’ also originated here. Today the estate belongs to the Nassauische Sparkasse and is managed by estate director Ralf Bengel. Only Riesling grows on its roughly 70 hectares, certified organic since the 2022 vintage; alongside the current wines, the estate’s online shop also offers older vintages.
