Value for money

Under €9 – the least expensive wine on this list, and explicitly awarded “Best Buy” by Falstaff. More value for money is hard to find in dry Riesling.

Goes well with

Franconian bratwurst, fried carp or a simple salad with goat's cheese.

The estate

The estate belongs to the Würzburg foundation Bürgerspital zum Heiligen Geist, founded in 1316 by Johannes and Mergardis von Steren; the first vineyards were added in 1334, and the proceeds still go towards the foundation’s care for the elderly today. With holdings in the Würzburger Stein, Stein-Harfe, Innere Leiste, Abtsleite and Pfaffenberg, it is one of the largest estates in Germany.
