Profile
For decades this family estate in Monzingen on the Nahe has been one of the leading names for dry Riesling in Germany. Its foundation is two Große Lagen: the Halenberg, of which the family owns more than 60 per cent, and the Frühlingsplätzchen, with red slate, loam and quartzite. Frank Schönleber favours close-to-nature farming and a clear, precise style that emphasises origin; alongside the GGs the estate also upholds the Nahe tradition of fruity-sweet Prädikat wines. Around 85 per cent of the vineyard area is planted with Riesling.
