Profile
This family estate in Spay is one of the most important producers in the Bopparder Hamm, a steep slate site facing mainly south with gradients of 30 to 70%. On around 14 hectares, 88% Riesling grows on weathered Devonian slate, spread across the Große Lagen Feuerlay, Mandelstein, Ohlenberg, Engelstein, Fässerlay and An der Rabenlei. The motto “Rhein.Schiefer.Riesling” (our translation: “Rhine.Slate.Riesling”) stands for wines from steep sites shaped by their origin; today two generations of the family work together. Besides dry Große Gewächse, the estate has a particular reputation for off-dry (feinherb) and nobly sweet Rieslings.
